Thalo Labs was founded in 2021 by Dr. Brendan Hermalyn with a mission to accelerate urban decarbonization by tackling emissions directly at the source—our buildings. Frustrated by the slow pace of the energy transition, Dr. Hermalyn leveraged his expertise in advanced sensing, developed through roles at NASA, Skybox Imaging, Waymo, and GM/Cruise, to create real-time solutions for improving energy efficiency in the built environment. Based in New York City, Thalo combines cutting-edge sensing technology with powerful analytics to reduce inefficiencies, cut emissions, and drive meaningful climate impact. By modernizing how buildings are monitored and optimized, Thalo is closing the technology gap to make cities more sustainable for future generations.
