Introducing Cohort 6 of Venture For ClimateTech
Introducing the 10 teams selected to join Cohort 6 of Venture For ClimateTech.
Congratulations to AquaLith, Blue Ore Metals, Carbon Scavenger, Highland Park Technologies, Orien Energy, Resollant, Rise Reforming, Serenity Power Inc., Takazuri Ltd makers of the Climatile™, and Terrament.
Each company will receive up to $50,000 in non-dilutive funding, along with tailored mentorship and high-touch programming, which kicked off this past week. “The remarkable innovations of Cohort 6 companies reflect the breadth and urgency of solutions needed to address increasingly critical energy needs and climate change at scale,” said Jack Baron, Managing Director of Venture For ClimateTech. “We’ve found that the quicker we can position these teams to a scalable or commercialized place, the higher their chances are for follow-on investment—both private and public—and for long-term success.”

Funding Opportunities
NYSERDA has opened $15 million in funding supporting the development and demonstration of technologies that improve energy efficiency, electrification, and load management in existing residential and commercial buildings. Eligible applicants include researchers, educational institutions, manufacturers, building owners and managers, and trade associations — with priority given to solutions that benefit low- to moderate-income and disadvantaged communities.

NYSP2I’s New Community Impact Accelerator Grant Program is Now Accepting Proposals
The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) is now accepting proposals for its Community Impact Accelerator Grant (CIAG) Program, offering awards of $30,000–$50,000 to support community-led pollution prevention initiatives across New York State. Up to 10 projects will be selected, with priority given to initiatives that advance environmental and public health outcomes aligned with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the NYS Solid Waste Management Plan. Funded projects must be designed for replication and statewide impact, making this a compelling opportunity for organizations looking to scale their sustainability work.

SBA’s Freedom 250 Patriot Pitch Competition: Compete for a Share of $1 Million
The U.S. Small Business Administration has launched the Patriot Pitch Competition, inviting small businesses nationwide to compete for a share of a $1 million cash prize pool as part of the Freedom 250 celebration of 250 years of American entrepreneurship. The competition spotlights businesses that are driving innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening American competitiveness, with finalists pitching live in Washington, D.C. in September alongside national exposure, networking, and a supplier matchmaking expo. Applications are due June 10.

V4C Alumni Spotlight: Ammobia Secures DOE Funding
V4C alumni Ammobia, Inc. has been named among 20 companies selected to receive a portion of $52 million from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation, an initiative dedicated to bolstering American manufacturing and domestic supply chains. Ammobia’s project, centered on Single-Pass Ammonia Synthesis, represents a breakthrough with the potential to reduce energy costs by up to 60% for the production of ammonia — one of the world’s most widely utilized industrial chemicals.

For ClimateTech alumni Voltpost, ElectricSwitch, Airbuild, Kit Switch, and Re-Nuble have been recognized as winners of the World Economic Forum’s UpLink Yes San Francisco Urban Sustainability Challenge, a testament to the caliber of innovation emerging from the For ClimateTech community. The Top Innovator Program, run in collaboration with UpLink, recognizes standout startups developing groundbreaking sustainable solutions, providing tailored mentorship, funding opportunities, and visibility to scale their impact. Congratulations to all five teams on this well-deserved recognition.

GreenPortfolio in the Spotlight
Venture For ClimateTech alumni GreenPortfolio recently received a notable recognition when CEO Bonnie Gurry’s platform was featured as a recommended solution during a conversation between Stacey Abrams and renowned climate scientist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson on the Assembly Required podcast. GreenPortfolio, which connects individuals with financial advisors who specialize in climate-aligned wealth building, was highlighted as an important tool for helping people green their finances.

Amatec Achieves Key American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Milestone
Venture For ClimateTech alumni Amatec has successfully completed ASTM E136 combustibility testing for their innovative structural material, CeleStruct. Conducted in partnership with Johns Manville, the material demonstrated non-combustible behavior at 750°C with minimal material loss. This milestone is particularly significant as CeleStruct serves as a load-bearing solution that cures in one hour and reaches handling strength within the same day, effectively replacing multiple traditional components in wall systems.
