Scale For ClimateTech Tours at Contract Manufacturers

Scale For ClimateTech hosted a series of contract manufacturing tours in Rochester, NY exploring the different manufacturing capabilities like sheet metal fabrications, roll-to-roll processing, circuit board assemblies and more. A special thanks to our Supply Chain Partners for welcoming our teams: EEP Quality Group, Inc., ArcWorks, PEKO Precision Products, Re:Build Optimation Technology, LLC, Windsor Technology, and RIT Golisano Institute for Sustainability.

The primary goal was to connect the cohort with potential partners in the region and showcase the incredible resources New York State offers. The cohort teams left with even more to consider for their designs and innovations.

Remedium Wins £50,000 Prize

Remedium, a company in Venture For ClimateTech’s cohort 5, recently won a £50,000 prize at TechX Demo Day. Remedium’s solution, Limeloop, captures carbon dioxide from industrial processes such as cement and steel production. Remedium’s technology can be implemented in sectors that are especially difficult to decarbonize, promising to remove over 90% of emissions, produce high-temperature heat for industry, and potentially reduce capture costs by more than 80%. This prize will allow Remedium to fund the next phase of its development, eventually leading to the significant decarbonization of industrial processes.

Mike RetoolReTool ‘25 Connects Manufacturers and Readily Available Clean Energy

In the beginning of June, the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities hosted the Retool ‘25 conference on the shores of Chautauqua lake where New York State manufacturers and supply chain partners convened to share resources and learnings for making manufacturing more cost-effective and sustainable. We heard  Scale For ClimateTech alumni James Kumpton from KLAW Industries and Ellie Rusling from Microera Power talk about the resources that are available on a state level that helped both of their companies scale. They also discussed how new technology can help manufacturers as a customer or a vendor. Conversations were moderated by Scale For ClimateTech’s managing director, Mike Riedlinger.

Learnings From the Supply Chain Webinar with NYP2I

Earlier this month, NYSP2I hosted a webinar focused on building sustainable supply chains for New York State manufacturers. The session covered available business funding assistance, the core elements of a sustainable supply chain, and the variety of certifications companies can pursue. As part of the webinar, the team surveyed attendees, and below are the main results:

  • 60% of respondents said their company has received requests from customers to complete or meet sustainability scorecards, questionnaires, supplier expectations, reporting standards, certifications, or ecolabels.
  • 17% of respondents reported having sustainability initiatives in place.
  • 20% of companies have calculated their carbon footprint.

Be sure to join us for our next webinar in September—we’ll share more information as it becomes available.
