Dr. Rob Clark

Dr. Rob Clark is a Venture Partner at Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Technical Diligence Lead for Breakthrough Energy Catalyst. He is an experienced engineer and academic who has long been involved in the startup world, founding several companies, and currently sits on the three corporate boards, including as the Director of Minerals Technologies Incorporated (MTX). 

Rob also teaches at the University of Rochester’s Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences after spending eight years as its Dean and five years as the Provost and Senior Vice President of Research at the University. During his time in university leadership, he doubled undergraduate enrollment in engineering as Dean, pioneered cross-University cooperative programs, created UR Ventures, and fostered the development of a new data science program.

He holds a B.S., M.S., and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and now resides in Rochester, New York.
