Find Funding

The Jeff Lawrence Manufacturing Grant application period is closing soon! The fund supports a set of activities designed to spur technology development and commercialization across New York State. The second round of Manufacturing Grants for 2022 is open for a few more days. The deadline to apply is April 29, 2022. Learn more and get your application in here.

The 100+ Accelerator is investing up to $100K in companies from Seed to Series B stage to help pilot sustainable innovations in supply chains. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2022. Learn more and apply here.

The E2 1 Hotel’s Fellowship is recruiting Fellows to tackle the most pressing environmental issues across the country. Each fellow receives $20K and project support from E2 and NRDC staff to help advance climate action and develop a cleaner economy. The fellowship is open to U.S. based early and mid-career professionals and students. Learn more and apply here by May 9, 2022.

ElectronVibe 2022 is a business case development competition to showcase solutions from mature power sector startups to Indian electric utilities, by NEX India. Apply by May 11, 2022 and learn more here

The Real-Time Energy Monitoring (RTEM) Hackathon is offering up to $55K in awards for ideas that positively impact or accelerate the electrification and decarbonization of New York State commercial and multi-family buildings. Rolling deadline until May 23, 2022. Learn more and apply here.

The Hackaday Prize is offering a $25K award with numerous additional awards to teams focusing on sustainability, resiliency, and circularity. The challenge represents a chance for the open source hardware community and the electronics industry to go beyond promises and work together to deliver tangible solutions. Hackaday is hosting a series of contests throughout the year listed below with its specific entry periods.

The Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon is proud to announce the sixth year of its Urban Future Prize Competition with the generous support of The New York Community Trust, NYSERDA, and MUFG. Winners of the Future Environments and Future Vision Prizes will each take home a $50K cash prize and admission to the ACRE incubator, the longest-running cleantech incubator in New York. Applications are due June 6, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Learn more and apply here.

IFundWomen is looking for extraordinary women entrepreneurs who have proven product-market fit, driven growth, and demonstrated a meaningful impact through their businesses.

The deadline to apply to IFundWomen Entrepreneur of the Year is June 8, 2022.

One grand prize winner will be rewarded with a $100K equity investment and access to premium educational resources, and announced as the “best and brightest of 2022” through IFundWomen’s press and social media channels. Six $5K cash grants are also on the table for Business Category winners.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York State Electric, and Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) Announce $3M Available for Round 2 of the Future Grid Challenge.

Round 2 of the Future Grid Challenge will support pilot projects for transmission line sensors with predictive capabilities in the Rochester, Buffalo, Ithaca, and Binghamton areas. NYSERDA and Avangrid’s subsidiaries, NYSEG and RG&E, seek to collaborate with solution providers to pilot advanced transmission line rating and monitoring solutions. Applications close June 22, 2022 3:00 p.m. EST for proposals.

The DOE announced a Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship Program to help build a diverse U.S. workforce to decarbonize the electricity sector

The Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship sends recent graduates and energy professionals to work at critical energy organizations to advance clean energy solutions. This program will help increase access to clean energy career opportunities across the country and accelerate the national transition to a resilient and affordable clean energy economy.

Innovator Fellows will receive a stipend and an educational allowance to support host institution projects that will help decarbonize the U.S. power system, electrify transportation and industry, and make the power system more equitable and inclusive.

For ClimateTech Community on Full Display at the NREL Industry Growth Forum

Six teams from the Scale and Venture For ClimateTech programs presented at the 2022 NREL Industry Growth Forum (IGF) in Denver, Colorado. With countless investor meetings, presentations, and in-person meetups, the For ClimateTech community was hard to miss. Congrats to the teams and NREL for another successful year. Lastly, save the date for the IGF 2023, to be held May 2-3 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Denver. Check some photos from the event and the full gallery.

Nuravine and the Center For Economic Growth Awarded $50K from Fuzehub

Nuravine, developer of the indoor farming automation platform called the Alchemist, was awarded a $50K grant from Fuzehub in partnership with the Center for Economic Growth. This product has saved clients about 100 hours of work per month while increasing their yields by 10%. The next evolution of the platform, the Flux, will deliver nutrient mixtures to different zones throughout an indoor farming facility and provide further data on the systems operations. Salient Energy Featured in PV Magazine

Salient Energy, a Zinc battery developer, was featured in PV Magazine for its work developing residential energy storage systems.

“Currently, we are in the process of ramping up production at this same facility to the pilot scale to support pilot projects in the residential space,” CEO, Ryan Brown told PV Magazine. “We are also developing our first gigafactory plant design, which will be located in the USA or Canada.”

Draft Scoping Plan Public Hearings for the the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act

The Climate Action Council will hold 10 public hearings across New York State to receive public input on the Draft Scoping Plan and advance work on a Final Scoping Plan to guide the implementation of the State’s nation-leading climate goals under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act).  

Eight in-person hearings and two virtual hearings will be conducted to receive public input. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required for the in-person hearings. Priority in seating and speaking will be given to those who pre-register.

Selections Season for Cohort 2

Venture For ClimateTech (V4C) set out this recruitment season focusing on attracting high quality applications and making sure it had a diverse pool of innovators. In total, V4C received 220 applicants and brought 35 teams to bootcamp. The data from the overall pipeline showed an increase in diverse founders applying for our program across most definitions. Check out the table comparison below.

Now the hardest part of getting down to the final cohort! Stay tuned for the Cohort 2 announcement.

2022 Manufacturing Tours Are Back In-Person!
