Tarform Motorcycles is an automotive startup company launching a new breed of electric motorcycles. The company is based both in Brooklyn, New York and in Stockholm, Sweden. Tarform’s mission is to set a new standard for two-wheeled transport by developing fully electric, zero-emission premium motorcycles, using sustainable materials and smart connectivity.
Re-Nuble uses an inexpensive, patent-pending process to transform food waste into chemical-free, organic nutrients for both soil-based and hydroponic cultivation. The company is focused on the commercialization of technologies that optimize plant nutrition sourced from food waste.
Pvilion integrates solar cells with flexible materials, building products that generate electricity, ranging from backpacks & clothing to stadium roofs and building facades. Pvilion’s innovative solar powered fabric canopy designs are at the forefront of lightweight, sustainable architecture. Because their products provide more than just solar electricity, they often work with forward-thinking and environmentally-conscious clients who are trying to extend their sustainability initiatives into the realm of celebrated public spaces.
Nuravine is an environmental automation company serving the indoor farming and cultivation market. They develop sensor and actuation devices to monitor and maintain indoor environments while collecting data and optimizing for energy and yield targets. Their first product is the Elixir, a hydroponics water monitor that collects pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature data. This system is designed to integrate with pumps that are capable of maintaining water conditions using corrective additives and nutrients.
Frio provides automated snow melt control through our line of IoT controllers and accompanying cloud platform. The system combines weather data and heater feedback to optimize heater on-time, drastically improving efficiency over traditional snow melt control methods. Our connected controllers work with new and retrofit systems of all sizes, enabling efficient, hassle-free control for any snow melt system.
Farmshelf builds bookshelf-sized smart indoor farms for restaurants, hotels and cafeterias. Farmshelf turns food miles into food feet, by producing fresh leafy greens and herbs onsite. Their vision is of a more sustainable food system that will lead to people around the world using Farmshelf farms to grow their own food right in their restaurants, hotels, schools, cafeterias and homes.
Enviro Power is bringing to market the next generation of heating systems that generate electricity while producing heat. Designed for commercial and residential applications, Enviro Power’s SmartWatt Boilers generate low-cost electricity, provide backup power, lower your environmental footprint, and help balance the electric grid.
Allied Microbiota (AMB) develops microbes and other biological products to destroy harmful chemicals. As an environmental biotechnology company, AMB’s primary focus is on their breakthrough bio-remediation product PacBac, targeted at difficult-to-treat contaminants in the $20B remediation industry in the US. This cost-effective product can rapidly reduce recalcitrant, organic contaminants like dioxins, poly-chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and other chlorinated compounds in soil and sediments.
Currently, they are conducting field tests with Clean Earth, one of the largest environmental engineering firms in the Northeast, at their New Castle, Delaware facility. Initial results are positive and tests will expand to commercial scale in 2019 as AMB increases production capacity. AMB was formed in 2017 from technology developed at Columbia University and is located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park.
In spaces without exterior walls, roof daylight is a beneficial way to fulfill building codes and green building standards that require the use of daylight to improve human health and productivity. Current products are poorly insulated and have interior gutters to deal with condensation, leading to cold drafts, discomfort, and high energy bills in winter, plus overheating and glare in summer. Architects and owners thus avoid such products because of bad experiences and user complaints.
475 Lamilux skylight system offers a solution that allows all the benefits of daylight in interior spaces – while avoiding the downsides. The system is fully insulated and free of condensation by design. The skylight no longer has a negative impact on the performance of the enclosure because of its use of triple-pane glass and thermally broken frames. It sits on a unique, fully insulated fiberglass curb, and comes with shading and operable options. This means the product can be energy positive, by reducing the amount of artificial light used in the building, minimizing heat losses, maximizing solar heat gains in winter, and offering full protection against condensation – even in the middle of winter.
