Scale For ClimateTech Announces Its Next Cohort

Scale For ClimateTech (S4C) proudly announces the launch of its 5th Cohort, focusing on supporting climate tech companies in overcoming manufacturing challenges. The program aims to advance New York State’s climate and clean energy goals.

Meet the 18 innovators joining Cohort 5:

Voltpost, Celadyne Technologies Inc, TK Fabricate, AeroShield Materials, Inc., MicroEra Power, Inc., Carbon To Stone, Swobbee GmbH, 1S1 ENERGY, INC., Floe Inc, Mitico, Volexion, Inc., CarbonBridge Inc., Cancrie Inc, Kit Switch, Vycarb, Clean Crop Technologies, REPWR, and GenH.

Throughout the program, each innovator will receive specialized assistance to guide them through their manufacturing journey, including technical support and access to a dedicated supplier network in New York State.

Apply for the Grow-NY Food and Agriculture Business Competition

A total of $3 million in prizes will be awarded to seven startups in the Grow-NY initiative. The competition provides funding, mentorship, business development support, and other key resources to leading food and agriculture startups from across the globe. Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m. EST on May 15, 2024.

Apply Now for the 8th Annual Urban Future Prize Competition

The Urban Future Lab Competition is seeking to find the brightest climate tech startups solving the most pressing climate challenges. Startups will compete for the chance to win two $50K cash prizes and admission into the ACRE Incubator–NYC’s longest-running climate tech incubator. The two prize tracks are:

  • The Future Solutions Prize: a sector-agnostic prize track open to all climate tech companies.
  • The Future Resilience Prize: climate adaptation and resilience track with particular attention to the solution’s impact on vulnerable communities.

Ammobia Closes its Oversubscribed Seed Round of $4.2 Million for Green Ammonia

Earlier this month, the Ammobia team announced its oversubscribed $4.2 million seed financing to feed and fuel the world with clean ammonia. The round was led by Starlight Ventures with participation by Collaborative Fund, Chevron Technology Ventures, Arosa Capital, Zero Infinity Partners, R7, DNX Ventures and Plug and Play Tech Center. With this funding round, Ammobia is advancing its technology through a 1,000X scale-up, working towards a ground-breaking revolution in ammonia production.

Voltpost Debuts Commercial Lamppost Electric Vehicle Charging Solution

Voltpost, the lamppost electric vehicle (EV) charging company, announced the commercial availability of an innovative, award-winning curbside EV charging solution. The company is developing and deploying EV charging projects in major U.S. metro areas, including New York, Chicago, Detroit and others, this spring. Shelley Xu Awarded Innovator of the Year Award by the Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center

ISAIC, the Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center, awarded Shelly Xu its Innovator of the Year award this past month. Shelly Xu Design (SXD) uses software to turn design sketches and leftover or wasted fabrics from textiles into artful and versatile clothing pieces with zero waste. She was recognized for her work to combat the staggering fabric waste plaguing the fashion industry, aiming to bring it down to zero while enhancing aesthetic appeal and cutting costs.  You can see Shelly take the stage at the inaugural ISAIC Honors event on May 2 in Detroit.

FLUIX Releases Eco-AI and Case Study to Cut Energy Use by 65%

FLUIX, Inc. announced Monday the latest results from a recent case study on savings achievable with its sophisticated AI technology, Artificial Intelligence for Managing Infrastructure (AIMI). Solideon, a Berkeley, CA-based innovator in automated manufacturing, allowed FLUIX to conduct this validation in a setting reflective of a standard data center. They found the  AIMI significantly reduced HVAC energy consumption by 65% in a server room environment and led to an impressive 40% cut in overall site energy usage.

Mars Materials Opens its Doors in Houston and hosts Bill Gates

The Mars Materials team officially opened its pilot laboratory at the Shell Technology Center Houston at the end of March. Round 2 of the FuzeHub Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants Are Now Open

Are you a startup or established manufacturing company looking for funding to help advance your technology? Check out the FuzeHub Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund Manufacturing Grants.These grants are meant to support collaboration between not-for-profit organizations with expertise and resources and manufacturers at the forefront of innovation.

The Chargeup Battery Startup Accelerator Announces its Inaugural 2024 Cohort

ChargeUp, the nation’s first and only accelerator dedicated to supporting battery and energy storage startups, is the latest program launched under NENY to propel domestic battery industry innovation, while fostering economic growth in Upstate New York. The effort continues New York’s mission to build a robust ecosystem for battery innovation within a federally designated Tech Hub. The 2024 ChargeUp program received over 90 applications from across the world, with four companies selected for the inaugural cohort through a rigorous, competitive review and pitching process, evaluated by a panel of top technical and business experts.
